Association Maonah for Human Rights and Immigration / Yemen + America, in partnership with the Center for Justice and Peace, announces the conclusion of the human rights advocacy campaign led by the association for nine years in the case of lifting sanctions on Ambassador Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh and his father, the leader, in New York City, after its successful conclusion and the removal of the aforementioned from the list on July 30, 2024 AD.

The Association Ma’onah for Human Rights and Immigration and the Center for Justice and Peace in New York, in partnership with a number of Yemeni communities in the United States of America, organized a celebration last night in New York City on the occasion of the conclusion of the advocacy and defense campaign implemented by the association for more than nine years to remove the name of Ambassador Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh and his father, the late Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, from the United Nations sanctions list, after the issuance of the removal decision issued by the Sanctions Committee on Yemen in the UN Security Council on July 30, 2024 AD.
The celebration program, which was held in New York City and attended by hundreds of members of the Yemeni community in the city, included a speech by the head of the Association Ma’onah for Human Rights and Immigration, lawyer Mohammed Ali Alaw, in which he announced the conclusion of the stages of the human rights advocacy project carried out by the Ma'una organization on this issue in all international forums for more than nine years until the campaign concluded successfully a few days ago with the issuance of a decision to remove the unjust sanctions. Alaw also conveyed to the attendees the greetings and thanks of Ambassador Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh to all members of the Yemeni community in America and to all human rights activists and organizations that stood in solidarity with him until the unjust sanctions were removed.
Then came the speech of the civil organizations by Aziz Zaid, Vice President of the Association Ma’onah , and a number of speakers.
The speeches at the ceremony unanimously extended congratulations and blessings from all Yemenis abroad to the ambassador and Al-Afash on the occasion of the decision to remove sanctions on him and his father, the leader, after the injustice and political machinations that befell them for ten years and ended with their acquittal. The attendees renewed their support for the ambassador's directions and their support for any national efforts he leads to get Yemen out of Chapter VII and achieve peace and stability.
