▶️Press Release:-
Association Ma’onah for Human Rights and immigration (AMHRI) Participates in the 57th Session of the UN Human RightsCouncil in Geneva .
➡️Geneva / Special.
The 57th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council kicks off in Geneva, Switzerland, today, Monday, September 9, 2024, and will continue for more than a month until October 11, 2024.
The Association Maonah for Human Rights is participating in this session with several activities through its legal team, in partnership with the Geneva International Center for Justice, and in cooperation with a group of non-governmental organizations. This participation includes submitting reports, delivering statements, and briefing on the human rights situation in several countries around the world that are listed on the Council’s agenda, which hold particular importance for the Association's work.
Human rights violations in #Yemen ,will receive special attention during this session, including crimes such as arbitrary detentions of UN employees and staff of international organizations operating in Yemen, the ongoing executions in the absence of fair trials, and the failure of Houthi militias to comply with international appeals for the release of forcibly detained individuals. This has worsened the issue and continued the practice of enforced disappearances. Houthi militia violations against the Yemeni people are escalating, with crimes continuing on various fronts, and they persist in refusing to comply with international resolutions issued by the UN Security Council and the Human Rights Council.
The Houthi militias are directly responsible for exacerbating the impacts of climate change in Yemen and its negative effects on the Yemeni people, as they ignore any measures to mitigate these effects, and even take actions that worsen the situation. These issues will be the focus of speeches and seminars within the Council’s meetings.
Around the world, violations based on race, color, or religion are on the rise, and forms of racial discrimination are renewing and worsening, sometimes leading to serious assaults against people of African descent, migrants, or Muslims.
In every session of the Council, the Association Ma’onah gives the necessary importance to these violations, addressing them in reports, briefings, and seminars, as it is an international human rights platform that advocates for human rights and public freedoms, and holds consultative status with the United Nations.
AMHRI invites you to follow its activities and participate in its briefings on the events of this session through its media outlets and social media platforms.
