AMHRI Calls for a Special Session of the Human Rights Council on Yemen
New York – 10 October 2026
The Association Ma’onah for Human Rights and Immigration (AMHRI) has submitted an urgent memorandum to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the President of the Human Rights Council, calling for urgent action toward convening a Special Session of the Council on the situation in Yemen in light of the rapidly escalating military and humanitarian situation and the growing regional dimensions of the conflict.
AMHRI called for the establishment of an independent, impartial and comprehensive international investigative mechanism to investigate all violations connected to the Yemen conflict, without exception or selectivity, collect and preserve evidence, determine individual and command responsibility, and examine the role of relevant Yemeni, regional and international actors.
The Association warned of increasing risks to civilians, civil aviation, maritime navigation and humanitarian access, as well as the danger that siege and counter-siege dynamics could deepen hunger, displacement and the disruption of essential services.
AMHRI stressed that independent accountability and evidence preservation have become an urgent necessity, renewing its call to protect civilians, ensure humanitarian access and prevent impunity.
